Official Review for Ancient Winter by LEAH:
Atmospheric, Evocative and Inspirational.
Be prepared to traverse through the ages.
Warning: You will find no modern takes on pop contemporary Christmas music here.
Warning #2: I will tell you now, my family is going to hate being in the car while I drive. This album is on repeat and we’re only in mid-November!
Warning #3: I am no official music reviewer for a magazine, but I sang in a choir for 15 years and have played: keyboards, clarinet, tenor sax and in the process of self-teaching myself the harp. I’ve done a bit of song writing and composition, but those days are long gone (for now). The only writing I’m doing these days is romance novel writing.

While the holiday season is quickly approaching, if you’re looking for a fresh and modern approach to classical holiday music this is the album for you. If you’re in the mood for something different with a medieval and middle eastern vibe reminiscent of the middle ages this album is for you. If you’re a choral singer or appreciate that sort of music this album is for you. If you’re a fan of motion picture soundtracks to historical and fantasy films, this album is for you. I really do think everyone needs to listen to this album at least once, so please do. Fans of the Medieval Baebes will want to check this album out too. This album is certainly not your traditional LEAH album which isn’t a terrible thing. As artists, experimentation and evolving our styles is a reality. As an independent recording artist, LEAH has excelled in creating a sound that is comparable to some of Europe’s favourite symphonic metal female front runners (e.g. Simone Simons (Epica), Zuberoa Aznarez (Diabulus in Musica), Charlotte Wessels (Delain), Floor Jansen (Nightwish) to name a few). Toss in a dash of Enya, Loreena McKennit and Tori Amos and well, you get LEAH. Every album until now has had its own vibe for sure, but Ancient Winter might be my favourite to date. Why? The arrangements and the production of the album are high quality and top notch. World class musicians are on this album again!!! Troy from Nightwish and Anna from Cellar Darling!!! Come on. I’m like dying over here every time I hear them play. Don’t even get me started on the atmospheric dream like vibe this album produces. Some songs had me in reflective state, while the lively bits in other songs had me dancing around my office like I was some renaissance babe. My absolute favourite tracks were Gaudete, Light of the World, Puer Natus, Noel Nouvelete. While all were fantastic, these songs either transported me, or evoked an emotion that rippled from head to toe. I can’t even rate this album as it exceeds a 10/10 for me. LEAH has grown with each album and this one is no different. Be sure to check this album out and you don’t want to miss out on some of her merch that will surely sell out by the time this album is live. Once in a lifetime merch that may not launch ever again. Check. It. Out. https://theleahshop.com/collections/awcollection

I'm presently in the process of having my backlist re-edited and working on new projects. While I appreciate your interest, I'm holding off at present on collaborations. I will keep your names filed away for when I'm ready though.
Cheers!

The struggle is real for some of us, and while I’m no stranger to what today’s theme is, keep the conversation going. Start a conversation if you’re in the dark spot. Listen and observe. There is no shame in needing to reach out. #bellletstalk
